Hardware Review
Vizo Shuttle ST
The use of 2.5" drives as a portable medium has been more and more common now as 2.5" drive are now becoming cheaper. Many users still prefer the actual hard drive based storage instead of flash because of bigger storage needs. Tonight, we'll take a look at a 2.5" SATA HDD external enclosure from Vizo. We would also like to thank the Vizo team for making this review possible.

Our sample came in a nicely packaged block Vizo box. In the box, Vizo includes a storage pouch as well as a small screw driver to install the hard drive in to the case. The enclosure itself is nicely put together. The Shuttle ST has a sleek black finish and is made of aluminum making it very light to carry around. The Shuttle ST uses USB 2.0 for connectivity and supports 2.5" SATA hard drives. Installation is very easy, just pop in the controller circuit onto your SATA drive and you're good to go. There is also an optional AC adapter outlet for an additional power. We tested our Shuttle ST with our new 128 BG SSD drive from our friends from Crucial (We'll have a complete review of the SSD later this month). We really like the the Shuttle ST's portability and design it's also crafted very well. It also does not heat up very easily, because of the aluminum construction. Since it supports the SATA interface, getting data in and out of the Shuttle ST is very fast.

We really like 2.5" hard drives as our storage medium when we're on the go. Not only they're very light, they also allows you to have greater capacity than the largest flash drives on the market. The Vizo Shuttle does the job. Very sleek aluminum frame and nice finish. Performance wise, the Shuttle ST performs very well because of the SATA interface support. Portability wise, the enclosure is very light so it'll be easy to carry around if you intend to use it outside the office. We give the Shuttle ST a score of 8 out of 10.
