MUSHKIN 1GB HP3200 DUAL CHANNEL KIT

Dual channel memories have become somewhat very mainstreamed for the past year or so. Manufacturers have brought out faster memory module with very good potential overclocking capabilities. Mushkin has been on the fore front of the memory market for a couple of decades now. Their line of memory module is synonymous to end user, mainstream and enthusiast pc users. Tonight we'll take a look at Mushkin's HP3200 1GB Dual Channel Kit. We would like to thank the Mushkin team for providing our sample for this review.

At first glance, the HP3200's blue heat spreaders are very nice to look at. The grooves on top of the heat spreaders are very designed to dissipate the heat generated by the memory modules. With the effective cooling, we can expect the HP3200 should be easily cooled with the passive and active cooling.

Mushkin's memory have been always been very good performers. Though they are a bit of an older model, they still pack a lot of performance and potential. The memory modules came in a very secure air packing and in on a blister packing. The HP3200 are enclosed in a Blue heat spreaders. The memory is rated at 200MHz with 2-3-3-6 timings. For testing we will see the modules' performance under normal clock speed as well as when in an overclocked state. We will be using the following test system to try out the memory modules:

ASUS A8N-SLI
ATHLON 64 3000+ WINCHSESTER (1.8GHz)
2 X 80GB WESTERN DIGITAL HD RAID 1+0
SILVERSTONE ST565 560W PSU
ATI X800 PRO PCI-E 256MB

With our system setup, it's time to run our benchmarks. The following are the stable overclock speeds we were able to attain with their timings:

2-3-3-6 @ 200MHz
3-3-3-6 @ 210MHz
3-3-3-6 @ 220MHz
3-3-3-6 @ 230MHz

With all the benchmarks now completed, we were very impressed with its scores:

We were able to get 230MHz HTT speed, an increase of about 15%. Running the benchmarks continuously for about eight hours without crashes, it really shows you the modules' stability. We probably could have pushed the HTT a bit higher, if we had more time to play around with the timings.

Overall, the Mushkin HP3200 1GB kit is a very solid memory modules. With great overclocking performance and stable timings, we give it thumbs up. Looking at the benchmark scores, we were very impressed on how well performed. For it's score, I give it a 9 out of 10 gears with a our ModGuidez recommendation as well.
