NZXT Beta

The segment of PC chassis in the computer market is very interesting. A lot of manufacturers try to cater to a lot of different computer users. Trying to appeal to their design preferences and stylish palettes. NZXT has always done a good job on these. As far back as I can remember, NZXT's cases have been designed in a way that they're aesthetics would appeal to a lot of PC enthusiasts. Tonight, we will take a look at on of NZXT's newer mid-tower steel chassis offering, the NZXT Beta. We would like to thank the NZXT team for making this review possible.

This time, NZXT has once again released a mid-tower chassis. The NZXT Beta is one of the newest case from NZXT's Classic line. You might remember the NZXT Alpha that we've reviewed a couple of years back, the Beta looks like follows that naming trend by NZXT. Now let's get to it. The sample case we received came in a well packaged brown NZXT box. At first glance, I thought this case would be heavy. But as soon as I picked up the box from my UPs guy, I found out how light the case was. Weighing at just 7.28 kgs, this has to be one of the lightest case we've reviewed so far. The exteriors of the case looks very aesthetically sleek. The all black finish is also nicely implemented throughout the case, I'll talk more about this a little later. The drive panels are nicely made of steel mesh. The power buttons and reset buttons are just located at the middle of the front panel adjacent to one another. The front panel ports are placed at the top of the case. NZXT provides two USB ports, an eSATA and audio ports. Compared to the NZXT Alpha, the Beta only comes in one variety. The side panel of the Beta is not windowed, NZXT instead placed side vents for fan installation.

Looking at the interiors, the NZXT Beta follows suit to a few NZXT cases we've reviewed in the past. As I mentioned before, the all black finish also carries over in the interior. The drive and motherboard chambers are nicely finished in black. The NZXT Beta can handle up to four 5.25" drives and five 3.5" drives. The drives are also secured with locking clips, keeping with the screw less drive rail design. The chassis also can hold your traditional motherboard sizes. NZXT also has included water cooling holes at the back, making it possible to install a water cooling solution for your CPU. The cables for the front panel is also nice and long, so you can nicely arrange the wiring for the interiors. The one thing we thought was lacking was fans. NZXT only included one LED intake fan in the front. So if you want to get more cooling, you'll have to get it separately. For cooling, the NZXT Beta is able to handle one 120mm fan on the rear and two 120mm fans as well for the side panel.

The NZXT Beta keeps NZXT's tradition of making uniquely designed cases. Though only a budget case, it still has plenty of features that any enthusiast would appreciate. The nice all black finish in its interiors are very well done. The tool less drive rails makes installations a breeze. The NZXT Beta is also very affordable, which is priced at about $80CAD. If you're looking for a case upgrade that won't break the bank, check this case out. We give the NZXT Beta a score of 8 out of 10 and our Unique Rigs recommendation.
